NORTHERN PROVINCE PS DATES MPOROKOSO

Northern Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu, dated Mporokoso District for monitoring progress of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and other government developmental Projects in the District.

During his tour, Mr. Mpundu expressed disappointment at the pace construction of Chief’s palace was moving, he said “even in the wisdom of the Ministry extending his contract for another period of eight (8) months, Transatlantic Ventures Limited, would not still complete constructing the Palace by the stated date.

Mr. Mpundu said, “ Chief Mumpolokoso has lost interest in the Contractor and no longer needed him, neither do I! he stated” he added that if he does not complete constructing the Palace by the signed period ending on May 30th 2025, the recommendation would be termination of his contract so that the Ministry could look forward and allow a serious contractor to move on site.”

Mr. Mpundu added that “ the wish of the republican President, is to ensure Chiefs live a dignified life hence coming up with the initiative of constructing Chief’s Palaces Country wide.

Meanwhile when Permanent Secretary got hold of the contractor via a phone call, he promised to expedite the works and complete the palace as soon as possible.

Later the Permanent Secretary and his entourage, proceeded to Mporokoso Boarding Secondary where Government has Constructed a 1 x 3 classroom block under 2023 CDF and renovated four hostel dormitories, two from Girls section and the other two from the Boys section using 2024 CDF and a 1 X 2 Cell block at Mporokoso Correctional Facility constructed using 2024 CDF.

Mr. Mpundu expressed gratitude for wonderful works being done by the local contractors but encouraged them to do better especially on the floor for the 1×3 CRB at Mporokoso Secondary School

The Northern Province Permanent Secretary, was in the district for his quarterly monitoring CDF projects and other government programs such as the social protection program where a total of Five thousand nine hundred sixty four (5,964) beneficiaries achieved 100% digital payments for Social Cash Transfer Program (SCT) and were doing quite well. He later applauded DC and Community Development and Social welfare department for a commendable Job.

The PS was in a company of Provincial Local Government Officer Alfred Nyambose, Provincial Eng. Musonda, Provincial planner among others, and was welcomed by the District Commissioner Brian Muyuni, the Council Secretary Henry Siwakwi, DJOC and heads of Departments.
